Note: the Young Poet prize is for poets under the age of 18 at the time of entering the competition. If you're 18 or over, please submit your poems via the Adult category.

Our judge is Graham Clifford. Graham is a published poet and head teacher in Waltham Forest. His latest collection is called Well, published by Against the Grain grahamclifford.co.uk.
Please send one file with your poems on separate pages - we accept PDF, DOC or DOCX. The poems are judged anonymously so please don't include any identifying information such as name or contact. Maximum 6 poems, ANY theme, up to 40 lines, not including title. Poems will not be accepted if they go over the maximum number of lines. Entry is FREE.
In addition to the main prizes, entrants will also be considered for the Local Prize if they live, work or study in Waltham Forest at the time of entering the competition. No additional fee is payable by the entrant. No person may win more than one prize, though more than one poem may feature in the list of Commended poems.
- Main Prize: 1st £50, 2nd £30, 3rd £20.
- Local prize: (for poets living or studying in Waltham Forest): 1st £50, 2nd £30, and 3rd £20. Local poets are also eligible for the main prize. The top three in the Local Prize will also receive Waterstones book tokens.
The top three poems in each category, plus a number of Commended poets as decided by the judge, will be published in our 'Where I'm From' anthology and on our website.
In addition, poems that reference specific locations in the London Borough of Waltham Forest will be considered for our 'Where I'm From' anthology even if they aren't among the winning or Commended poems.
Awards Ceremony: Prize winners will be notified as soon as possible after the closing date and invited to read their winning poem/s alongside Graham Clifford at the award ceremony at One Hoe St, Walthamstow, London E17 4SD on the evening of Thursday 14 November.
